What Does It Really Take to Succeed in MLM?

What does it really take to succeed in MLM? After studying top earners from many different companies, I think it boils down to this one simple statement: “Successful network marketers have a laser like focus on one company for a long period of time.” That’s right folks. If you want to make it in our industry, you have to look at what 97% of the people are doing, and do the complete opposite.
First and foremost, you need to work your business consistently. That means you invest 5-20 hours per week building your business. This time should be spent on prospecting, selling products, showing the plan, training your downline, following up with people, and other critical business activities.
Furthermore, you must get focused. That means you need to make your business a priority in your life. You must schedule business activities into your schedule. When possible, you need to eliminate distractions, so nothing prevents you from reaching your goal.
Next, you must stick with one company for the long haul. Most people join a new company every 6-9 months, trying to take advantage of the next great thing. Don’t make this common mistake. Find a company with products you are passionate about and stick with that company for at least ten years, preferably longer.
Another key to success is to have some type of game-plan. This is known as your strategy to grow your business. It should be written down on paper and followed each month. You need a 2-5 year game plan highlighting what you will do each month to grow your business. Without a solid game-plan, you will get distracted and lose focus.
In my opinion, this is what it really takes to succeed in MLM. Anyone can do it, but few people will. But that doesn’t just pertain to our industry. Few people ever follow through with their goals. Think about how many marriages fail, how many diet plans fail, and why budgets don’t work for most people. Most people lack the persistence and follow through to finish what they start. It’s just human nature. But, if you are a person with discipline, follow through and perseverance, the sky is the limit with our industry.
