This is a viral marketing article. The purpose of this viral marketing article is to teach you about viral marketing and show you how it can help grow your business.
If you’ve ever spent time on Facebook or YouTube, you’ve probably heard the stories about a funny video that has gone viral. Heck, you might have even watched a funny video and then forwarded it to all of your friends. Simply put, you might have helped a video go viral!
Most people dream of creating a video that goes viral. In most cases, that’s a good thing. After all, we all want exposure to our business, website or brand. Unfortunately, most “viral videos” aren't done right. Let me give you an example.
Let’s suppose you create a funny video and upload it to YouTube. And let’s suppose that over a few week period, it gets picked up on some popular blogs and websites, and you get 100,000 viewers. Sounds good, doesn’t it? That depends. I can’t tell you how many viral videos I’ve found that don’t make the owner of the video a penny of profit. I think that’s a shame.
Most viral videos don’t make the video owner any money because they don’t have a game-plan to monetize their video. For example, they don’t offer a link to their product, service or website in the video, or in the description below the video. That means that people watch their video and then move on to the next video! They don’t visit a website, they don’t buy your products, and they don’t check out your offer.
If you’re going to spend time creating viral videos, you need a game-plan and marketing strategy. In other words, you must include links in your video and in the description below the video, so the people who watch your video will visit your website.
Think about this for a moment. Let’s suppose you have a website about baking. So you create a funny video about baking whoopee pies. Your video is educational and hilarious. People will love it. More importantly, you decide to include your link at the beginning of the video, at the end of the video and in the description (below the video). You finish your video and upload it to YouTube.
Over the course of one year, your video becomes popular. In fact, you get one million views in the next 12 months. Of those one million views, 1 in 10 people visit your website. In this example, that would be an extra 100,000 visitors to your website! That’s a large amount of traffic. If you have advertising on your website, you will make money. And if you have your own eBook or baking course (or anything else to sell), you can make even more money!
Are you starting to get the picture? Having a viral video is one thing. But having a viral video that makes you money is something else! If you’re going to take the time to create a unique video that gets millions of views, why not have a game plan to make money from it! It just makes sense. After all, YouTube makes money from your videos, so should you!
Hopefully, this viral marketing article opens your ideas about the power of viral marketing. If you are going to spend time building viral videos, make sure you have a game-plan to make money from your videos! I hope this helps.
