Training for Network Marketing

Where do you get training for network marketing? Hopefully, you get trained by your sponsor. But don’t count on it. Most network marketers don’t get ANY training. Or worse, they get trained on old, outdated and ineffective techniques to grow their business. Sadly, they get confused and overwhelmed and end up quitting the industry. I don’t want that to happen to you or your downline, so listen carefully.

All MLM distributors need training for network marketing. At a minimum, they need to be trained how to prospect, how to generate leads, how to present the business opportunity, how to retail products and how to sponsor people. As a sponsor, you have the responsibility to teach your people these things. Don’t take that responsibility lightly. If you are a novice yourself, make a commitment to learn these skills so you can help out your downline.

Available Resources

There are many resources you can use to get training for network marketing. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I created this multi-level marketing website. I wanted to create a one-stop resource center where any distributor from any company could learn what they needed to do to succeed. Hopefully, you will find the resources here you are looking for.

You can also visit MLM blogs, read books, listen to tapes, attend seminars and counsel with successful distributors. It’s important to remember that people learn differently. What works for you might not work for someone else. Some people learn by hearing. Others learn by seeing. And others learn by doing. You should combine all three techniques when you provide training for network marketing to your downline.

Develop a Game-Plan

To get started with training for network marketing, you need a game-plan. You need to first educate yourself and then develop a systematic way to train your downline. You must have step-by-step process your downline distributors can use to get started the right way. SEE A SAMPLE MLM PLAN. To begin, you should consult with your sponsor and learn what they know. If they are new to the business, you should talk with their sponsor. If they are new too, keep working your way up the line of sponsorship until you can find someone who can help you.

In addition, don’t feel like you “have to” only consult with your sponsor and his or her upline. It’s your business. You can do as you wish. But please know that your upline has a VESTED interest in seeing you succeed. I think you should give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. On the other hand, if you can’t get the information you need from your upline, you should seek it elsewhere.

Once you have the basics, you need set goals and get started. You need to implement what you learned. As you progress, you should constantly evaluate and tweak what you do. Think of it as continuous improvement. As you learn and grow, you will need to continue your education. That means that each month, each week and each day, you should strive to learn new things about the industry, your MLM Company and its products.

Get Books from the Library

I recommend you visit your local library and “sign out” a few network marketing books. Next, you should see if they have any audio programs. If they don’t, go on eBay and search for network marketing training. You will find plenty of products at a discounted price. You should look for training on prospecting, cold calling, generating leads, sponsoring and communication. I recommend you read for thirty minutes each day and listen to two to three audios per week. This will keep you motivated and keep feeding your brain fresh information. Be sure you share what you learn with your downline.

Make sure you take notes. Keep a pen and paper and cassette recorder with you at all times. You can even type up what you learn into an email series for your downline. Whenever possible, you should attend local seminars offered by your MLM Company. You should even consider attending “generic” MLM training seminars. Bring your downline with you to the events when possible. If you can’t afford the seminars, sell some retail products to pay for the training. There really is no excuse.

Learn Something Every Day

If you keep doing little things every day, you will make significant progress over a long period of time. Your efforts will be compounded. If you think this “commitment to education” is crazy, it’s not. Doctors, lawyers and sales professionals do the same thing. They attend seminars, participate in forums, subscribe to newsletters, read books and do countless other things to stay cutting edge. You must do the same thing with your training for network marketing.

Despite everything I’ve just said there’s one exception to the rule. Don’t get busy to get busy. No matter how much you study something, please realize you will learn more by putting what you study into application. For instance, if you read a book about generating leads, you will improve your knowledge by taking what you learn and putting it into practice. If you can do that, you will learn faster! Many people make the mistake of “getting ready to get ready.” Sadly, they spend all their time studying how to do things, but never actually doing it.

One of my mentors, Mike Dillard, taught me that people would rather spending money to learn how to do something that actually go out and do it. I believe that’s true. For instance, people will read a book about proper health and exercise, but they won’t apply what they’ve learned. They simply keep repeating their old habits and wonder why nothing has changed. Don’t let this happen to you.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, training for network marketing is very important. All network marketers must strive to learn something new each day, so they can continue to make continuous improvement in their MLM business. In addition, you have the responsibility to train your downline, so they can achieve MLM success too.
