Social Network Marketing
What is social network marketing? I define it as using online social media sites such as YouTube and Facebook to build your multi-level marketing business. In case you don’t already know this, social media sites are the largest, most successful websites. In fact, social media websites recently passed pornography websites for total viewership. That means that more and more people are visiting the sites listed above. It’s not uncommon for someone to spend several hours a day surfing a social media website such as YouTube or Facebook. Smart network marketers understand this and use these sites to find new customers and distributors. I call this social network marketing. Before we get too deep into this topic I want you to understand that social network marketing should only be PART of your overall marketing strategy. It shouldn’t be your primary strategy. I say this because social network marketing can consume all your time if you aren’t careful. You can spend HOURS of your time and not do anything productive for your MLM business. Since time is money, I don’t want this to happen to you. You need to know which tasks produce positive results for your business. Best Social Media Sites There are lots of social media sites, but to get the best return on your investment, you should focus your time, money and energy on the largest, most visited sites. My favorite social media sites are Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. Although there are many other social media sites, these two have the most viewers and therefore offer the greatest potential. Below, I will give you some hints on how you can succeed with social network marketing on these two websites. Facebook Strategies Let’s start with Facebook. When you visit Facebook and search for network marketing or multi-level marketing, you will find hundreds of groups you can join. Within the MLM industry, there are hundreds of different groups on Facebook. Some groups are for people involved in a specific MLM Company. Other groups are “general” groups and focus on the MLM industry itself or a specific aspect of it. You should find several groups that interest you and join them. Read the comments. See what people are saying and doing. Start posting comments yourself and get to know the people. However, don’t be the guy or gal who is always spamming everyone with your business opportunity. That’s unprofessional and ineffective. This is probably my best social network marketing tip! Create Your Own Facebook Group Once you belong to three to five groups, consider starting your own group. You could name the group whatever you want. To increase your chances of success, pick a catchy name that isn’t currently being used. Write a good description covering the purpose of the group and provide your personal website or blog address. Once your group is started, make it a habit to consistently invite 20 to 50 people to join your group every day. If you do a little bit every day, you will start to build a large group. As people join your group, continue to provide helpful insights. I recommend you post one message each day. Consider using a “thought for the day” or “tip of the day.” Once you create your group, you have the option to spend money to promote your group with Facebook ads. This is similar to using pay-per-click with Google or Yahoo. If you want to use this method, you simply write up an ad, upload a picture, set your bid price and determine which demographics of people you want the ad shown too. It really is that simple. Personally, I don’t recommend this approach to promote a group. It just won’t produce a positive return on your investment. Instead, I think you should simply put a link to your group on your personal website or blog. That’s enough. You need to save your money for better marketing efforts. Facebook Fan Page In addition to your group, you should also start a fan page. Your fan page is a way to promote yourself. You can use the same techniques listed above for a group. Just create a simple fan page and put a link to your fan page on your personal website or blog. Also, when people join your group you should also invite them to be a fan. Facebook Advertising Tip Another benefit of Facebook is pay-per-click advertising. You can create Facebook ads to drive people to your group, fan page or personal website. If you are going to use this program, I recommend you send people to your personal blog or website. As a helpful hint, don’t follow the price points that Facebook recommends. Instead, determine how much you can afford to pay-per-click and use that number. You might get fewer clicks, but you won’t have to worry about running over budget. That will save you lots of money. On a side note, don’t mix your
MLM business
with your personal Facebook profile. Keep them separate. Everything I just described above will help you do that. In summation, all network marketers should have their own MLM group and fan page on Facebook. In addition, they can also use Facebook ads to promote their personal website or blog. Finally, they should keep their personal profile totally separate from their business. YouTube Marketing Tips Furthermore, YouTube is a great way to promote your network marketing business. You can create videos with a hyperlink to your website and upload them onto YouTube. Your key to success is to create quality videos with great information. You also need to research your keywords and pick a catchy title. If people enjoy your video, they can click on your link and get redirected to your MLM website or blog. It’s a great way to get free visitors to your website. It also creates back links and helps your website rank higher in the search engines, too. YouTube also offers a “featured video” option where you can pay to promote your videos. This is similar to pay-per-click advertising on Google, Yahoo and Facebook. Final Thoughts In summary, social network marketing is a great way to promote your multi-level marketing business. In modern times, more and more people are spending lots of times visiting websites such as Facebook and YouTube. Your goal is to find your target prospects on these websites and convert them into distributors and customers. Just remember that time is money. You don’t want to spend all your time on these websites. In network marketing you only get paid for two activities: selling retail products and sponsoring new distributors. Therefore, you should spend your productive time on those two activities. You should spend your non-productive time finding ways to use social media to drive more visitors to your website. I call that social network marketing.
