What is an online business promotion? And what should you know about it? The purpose of this article is to give you a brief overview of how you should promote your online business to get maximum results.Please know that there are more than one hundred million websites online. And millions of new websites are registered every month. That makes it quite difficult to stand above the competition and get noticed. Of the one hundred million plus websites around, most of them get very little traffic. And that means they get poor results and don’t make any money for the business owner. I don’t want this to happen to you. Anyone can build a successful and profitable online business or website, if they educate themselves about online business promotion. Marketing is the key to success in any business. Regardless of what some people might tell you, no product sells itself. In other words, it’s up to you to create a marketing buzz and promote your product. Fortunately, this is much easier to do than most people think. It really boils down to learning how to market your products and build a following. Practical Example
Let me give you an example. Let’s suppose you have an online business that sells wooden horses. You manufacture wooden horses, and other toys, in your woodshop at home. And you have a simple little website to sell your wooden horses.The first thing you need to do is determine who you will sell the products to. In this example, you determine that your ideal customer is stay at home moms. Your next step is to find a way to share your message with your target market (stay at home moms). So you do your homework and make a list of a few places that you might be able to advertise your products to stay at home moms. Here’s what you come up with. • Stay at Home Forums • Blogs about stay at home moms • Blogs about wooden toys • Rent an email lists of stay at home moms Simple Online Marketing Strategy
Based off these four things you come up with, your next step would be to develop a simple marketing strategy. In other words, this is how you will advertise your products to your target market, via these different venues we mentioned above. You come up with the following ideas: 1. Put banner ads on three high traffic stay at home mom forums 2. Put a banner ad on two successful stay at home mom blogs 3. Create 3-5 YouTube Videos about your wooden horses 4. Rent a large email subscriber list of stay at home moms and send them information about your website 5. Create a pay-per-click advertising campaign on Google and Yahoo 6. Write 3-5 articles about wooden horses and submit to several article directories 7. Submit links to several website directories to gain links to your website 8. And an opt-in form to your website to collect names and emails 9. Create a weekly newsletter for your current email subscribers 10. Form a joint venture with another website owner who has a profitable “handmade doll” business These are just ten simple examples I came up to help you with your online business promotion. I’d bet that if you sat down with a pen and notebook for an hour or two, you could easily come up with 50-100 good ideas. At that point, you could prioritize the ideas based upon your knowledge, available budget and time available. Implement Your Marketing Strategy
Your next key to success is to pick your top strategy and get started. I think it’s best to use one strategy at a time, until you know what you are doing. If you are comfortable doing more than one strategy at a time, that’s fine too. Once you get started, make sure you measure your results to find out what is working and what isn’t. Continue to make small improvements to your advertising over a period of time.As you can see, online business promotion is pretty simple. I’ve found that most people don’t get the results they want with their online business, because they are clueless about marketing. Remember, your product is not your business. Your business is marketing your product. For every hour you spend designing and building products, you should spend three hours marketing that product.! I want to leave with you with some simple advice. I once heard that the best-selling book isn’t always the best written book. The reason a book becomes a best-selling book is because the author (or publisher) spent time marketing and promoting the book. Sometimes even a crappy book can become a best-seller. And sometimes a good book might not sell any copies. Never forget that. Marketing is your key to success. Your online business promotion efforts should take up at least 50% of your time and your money.
