Network Marketing Tip

If I had to share one network marketing tip with you it would be to think long-term and treat your MLM business like a real business. Pretend you have one million dollars invested in your business and treat it accordingly. Following that one network marketing tip would ensure you achieved success in the MLM industry.

Instant Gratification and Overnight Success

Although network marketing is a very lucrative business opportunity, it often gets a bad rap. Because our industry is so inexpensive and easy to join, we attract many unqualified people. Most traditional businesses require back-ground checks and credit checks. Multi-level marketing doesn’t require either. Although this is beneficial to many people, it also has negative impacts on our industry.

Most Americans think short-term. As a result, most Americans live above their means, are buried in debt and end up living paycheck to paycheck. Most Americans don’t set goals or plan for their future either. I once heard that most people spend more time planning their yearly vacation than they do planning their financial future. Personally, I find that pathetic.

Most people struggle with their marriages, relationships, jobs, finances, health and countless other things because they think short-term. They expect immediate gratification and aren’t willing to make consistent sacrifices over an extended amount of time. Furthermore, most people who join the network marketing industry have a similar mindset. And they wonder why they get horrible results.

They think they can join the industry and achieve overnight success. They think they will get rich quick without any effort or sacrifice. When this doesn’t happen, they roll over and wet themselves. And then they go back to their friends, family and co-workers and tell everyone how they were “burned” or “ripped off.” This happens for two reasons. The first reason is their short-term thinking. We already covered that above.

Is Your MLM Business a Hobby or a Business?

The second reason is that they didn’t treat their MLM business like a real business. They didn’t have a business plan, a marketing strategy, an advertising budget or personal development plan. Also, they weren’t willing to take their time and money to learn and develop these skills.

Before you join any MLM Company, you should realize that it will take you three to five years to build a profitable business. Actually, it will take three to five years of you consistently working your business 10-20 hours per week. Don’t let that intimidate you though. I’ve owned several businesses. All were profitable, but none made even $1 profit in the first three years. All my prior businesses took four to five years to become profitable.

If you have an employee mindset, this might be difficult to accept. If you think short-term, you wouldn’t want to wait three years to become profitable. Personally, I’ve found that the long-term rewards are worth the short-term sacrifice. The good news is that you only have to do it once. Once you build a large downline, you can earn a residual income forever.

Also, three to five years really isn’t that long. The time will pass by whether you work your business or not. Why not have something to show for it? Why not be better off financially five years from now than you are today?

So, how do you apply this secret network marketing tip? How do you think long-term and treat your MLM business like a real business? Here are a few additional network marketing tips to help you get started.

Best Network Marketing Tips

Network Marketing Tip # 1: Have realistic expectations

Like I said before don’t expect to get rich overnight. You must think long-term. As author Steven Covey says “begin with the end in mind.” Decide what you want to accomplish and then break that down into bite-sized achievable goals. And then get busy working on your goals.

Network Marketing Tip # 2: Set business goals

Most entrepreneurs are goal setters. A goal is a written statement of what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it. You should set yearly, quarterly, monthly and daily goals for your network marketing business. Personally, I have a three-ring binder that is my goals book. I carry it with me everywhere I go. If you commit your goals to paper, you are more likely to achieve them. For instance, if your goal is to personally sponsor 120 people this year; you know you need to sponsor 10 people each month. You can break that down even further and realize you must sponsor someone every 3 days.

Network Marketing Tip # 3: Work your business consistently

So many people are inconsistent with their MLM business. Simply put, they let life get in the way. They don’t prioritize tasks. They end up doing the urgent tasks rather than the important tasks. To achieve success, you must work your business every day, every week and every month. If you stop working consistently, you will lose momentum.

Network Marketing Tip # 4: Don’t follow your sponsor blindly

This might come as a shock for some of you, but you shouldn’t follow your sponsor blindly. First and foremost, you should check the fruit on their tree. For example, are they earning a good income in MLM? Do they know how to succeed? And are they earning a significant portion of their income by recommending certain lead companies and training products to you? If so, are those products effective? Are they honestly helping you grow your business? It’s imperative that you find a sponsor who has achieved success and is willing to help you. In my opinion, that’s more important than the company you join.

Network Marketing Tip # 5: Be productive, not busy

The only two tasks you get paid for are to sell products and sponsor new distributors. Therefore, 80 to 90% of your time should be spent on these tasks. That means you shouldn’t spend all your time filing paperwork, cleaning your office or doing other similar non-productive activities. Focus on the first things first.

Network Marketing Tip # 6: Create Multiple Streams of Income

Create multiple streams of income: Your MLM Company shouldn’t be your sole income stream. Even if you have a job, you should strive to build three to five income streams at the same time. You can do this by promoting generic MLM affiliate products on your website or blog. This helps you create immediate income, because passive income takes longer to build.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, network marketing is a viable business opportunity. The best network marketing tip I’ve ever found was to think long-term and treat your MLM business like a real business. Pretend that you invested one million dollars to get started. If you follow that advice and work your business consistently for the next three to five years, you will achieve financial success and build a significant residual income.
