Why Join a MLM Pre-Launch?
What is a MLM Pre-launch and how does it work? Simply put, it is the “months before” or “days before” a MLM Company actually opens for business. For instance, if a new MLM Company is scheduled to open four months from now, it might start building a prospect waiting list right now. They might allow their initial distributors to build a “lead list” so that when the company officially opens for business they will immediately have thousands of customers and distributors. As you can see, it’s a very lucrative offer to the initial distributors. People think that “getting in early” will automatically make them a millionaire. Sometimes this is the case, but most of the time it doesn’t work out that way. On the other hand, it’s a very good deal for the MLM Company itself. They can strategically position themselves for success by creating a bunch of hype and marketing buzz. Regular companies do this same thing. For example, when a new Wal-mart store is being built, you see signs and advertisements that the business will be “open for business” on such-and-such date. The buzz gets customers excited. Normally, on opening day (and the first few months) the store is flooded with customers. Other businesses do it to. However, these businesses don’t offer the average consumer the opportunity to benefit from the profits. But network marketing does. Although there are many reasons you should join a MLM pre-launch, there are also some things you should look out for. Listed below are some of the advantages and disadvantages of joining a MLM pre-launch. We’ll start with the advantages. • Excitement & Hype: When a new MLM Company launches, people get excited. It’s common human nature. People like the “new, greatest thing.” Just think about the auto-industry and you will understand my point. People see a new automobile advertisement and automatically want the new vehicle. They think their vehicle is no longer worthy and run down to the dealership to take out payments on a new car. Network marketing isn’t that much different. People speculate about whether or not the MLM Company will be the next big thing. Sometimes it is. Other times it doesn’t work out that way. Most people think a new start-up MLM Company is more lucrative than their current company. Personally, I’m not a fan of pre-launch MLM companies. I’d rather partner up with a MLM Company that’s been around ten or more years. Don’t get me wrong here though. Many people will be excited and will be easy to sponsor into the business. But to find and sponsor these people, you have to already be good at prospecting, recruiting and closing the sale. If you’re not good at these tasks, you won’t succeed in any company. • Reputation: In a MLM pre-launch, it’s easy to sponsor new people. As I mentioned above, people are excited. The company has no reputation. It’s the old adage that “the grass is greener on the other side.” People involved in a different company will quit that company in hopes of finding greener pastures with the new company. These foolish people think the MLM Company itself is the answer to their problems. They think it will be easier to sponsor distributors into the new company, than in their current MLM Company. Most of these people jump from company-to-company and don’t achieve good results. I call them victims of the next great idea. • Get in on the Ground Floor: This is a major reason people join MLM pre-launches. They want the opportunity to get in on the ground floor. In many MLM companies, the people that “got in early” really benefitted and made the big bucks. If you look at large companies like Herbalife, Shaklee, Avon, Nu Skin and Amway, you realize that a small group of early distributors built the huge networks of independent distributors. They had a once in a lifetime opportunity and took advantage of it. But keep this in mind. For every person who “got in early” and built a large downline, there are hundreds of other people who got in early, but failed. On the other hand, what are the disadvantages of joining a MLM pre-launch? Personally, I think there are many reasons you shouldn’t join a MLM pre-launch. Let me start by telling you that most companies fail. Nearly nine out of ten businesses won’t be around in ten years from now. This is no different in multi-level marketing. Here are some of my favorite reasons for staying away from new MLM companies. • Untested Product: You have no idea whether or not the product is a quality product. Also, who are the company’s competitors? Is the product completely unique? Or is it similar to many competing products? If it is similar to other products, what makes it better? These are questions you should get answered before joining any MLM pre-launch. • Reputation: New companies have no reputation. They might look good on the surface, but you won’t know if they will send out the bonus checks on time, deliver the products in a timely manner or actually look out for the distributors. • Untested Leadership: What is the company’s leadership like? Do they understand network marketing? Do they have experience growing a business? Many network marketing companies fail because the CEO and senior leaders don’t possess the required skills to grow and sustain a thriving company. Once again, it’s better to team up with a company with proven leadership. • Inadequate Funding: This is the most common reason businesses fail. With a start-up company, you don’t know how much capital it has to invest in the business. Some businesses grow so fast that they go out of business. They end up getting more product orders than they can handle or don’t have the logistics to support the growth. With a start-up company, you don’t know what amount of funding it has. On the other hand, proven, reputable companies have sufficient capital to grow and stand the test of time. In conclusion, teaming up with a MLM pre-launch company can be an effective way to build a large network of distributors. But for every advantage it offers there are just as many disadvantages. Your key to success is to conduct your due diligence before you join any MLM Company. Take some time and research the company, its leaders and its product or service. Make sure that it has the credentials and potential to become a viable business opportunity. You don’t want to join a company, build a large downline and then have the company go bankrupt a year later. That’s why I tend to partner up with more established companies.
