In the 1950s and 1960s, the MLM industry was created. During that time, most MLM distributors built their MLM business through their social networks. They contacted friends, family and personal acquaintances to sponsor new MLM distributors.

Therefore, most MLM distributors were limited to their personal network of friends and family members to build their business. To become a top earner, you had to have a huge social network or you had to have great entrepreneurial and salesmanship skills.

The Power of the Internet

Since the acceptance of the internet in the 1990s, more people in our MLM industry have a level playing field. MLM online gives everyone the chance to succeed. Sure, some people choose to build their MLM business the old fashion way. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, working your warm market is still a very effective way to recruit new MLM distributors.

However, the internet allows anyone the opportunity to reach a global audience in the MLM industry. People are no longer limited to their social network to build a successful MLM business. All you need is a computer, a modem, a website and a creative imagination to succeed in MLM online. If you have those four things, the sky is the limit. In many MLM companies, the top earners are people who embrace and utilize the internet. They have systems in place to generate leads, present their business opportunity, sign-up MLM distributors and educate and train their down-line. These systems allow them to duplicate themselves with very little effort. And, they have more time to spend with their family and pursue leisure activities.

Secrets to MLM Online Success

The secret to network marketing online success is to have a game-plan. You shouldn’t use a company replicated website. Most MLM Companies provide a free website. The problem with these websites is that every MLM distributor usese the same website.

Instead, you must find creative ways to differentiate yourself from the masses. You must create what I call your own “Unique Selling Proposition.” In other words what differentiates you from everyone else in the industry? Why should people join your company and your down-line?

Once you know the answer to those questions, you can position yourself for MLM online success. For instance, my Unique Selling Proposition is to “become an industry expert that helps anyone from any company achieve a better understanding about how to succeed in the MLM industry.” That doesn’t need to be your USP. It’s just an example that works for me. No matter what you do, you must have a USP. Otherwise, you will be just like all other broke, failing MLM distributors. Once you establish your USP, you can move to the next step in achieving MLM online success. The next thing you need to do is create a capture page or website to recruit new MLM distributors. For instance, I chose to create this website to establish myself as an expert in the MLM industry.

My goal is to provide a large amount of “quality information” that will benefit MLM distributors from any MLM company. I’m not here to recruit anyone. If people join my MLM team, that’s great. If not, that’s not a big deal either.

Once again, your goal is to find a way to be different from everyone else in the MLM industry. For instance, let’s suppose you are great at prospecting. You could write an eBook or create a video or special report sharing your strategies. Next, you could promote this “product” on your website as part of your funded proposal. You could offer your report for free to generate leads. Or you could even charge a small fee.

Next, you could offer your report or eBook on your website in exchange for someone’s name, email and phone number. Once they type in the information into your web form, your auto-responder would deliver the report to them immediately. Several days later, you could follow up by phone or by email and then offer to help them.

Once you’ve built a relationship with them, you can offer your business opportunity or product.

Common Online Marketing Mistakes

Most MLM distributors don’t do what I mentioned above. Instead, they promote their company replicated website. And they wonder why no one joins their business. They don’t realize that another 5,000 or more people are promoting the same website. People who have seen “a similar” site before, will simply hit the back button and leave your similar site. That means the money you spend and the time you invest are a waste.

In addition, many MLM distributors join a “generic MLM system” that helps them create their own funded proposal. Although these systems are better than no system at all, they’re still not very effective. Remember, there are thousands of people using each MLM system. Therefore, you’re not differentiating yourself from the competition. You’re doing what everyone else does.

Personally, I’ve tried the generic MLM systems. They do work, if you work it. But I’ve found that they just weren’t very cost effective for me. That’s why I teamed up with Site Build It to create a large information based MLM site. On my website, I have 10+ different income streams. That means I have no pressure to recruit tons of MLM distributors.

I know that people will enjoy the free information and purchase the different programs I recommend. And some people will even join my MLM business. Isn’t that great? Personally, I think you should follow a similar plan if you want to achieve MLM success. You should start your own MLM information based website about a specific MLM topic. You should focus your time and energy on providing quality information that will pre-sell prospects on you and your business opportunity.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the internet has transformed the MLM industry for the better. MLM online allows anyone the opportunity to build a large global down-line. However, if you want to succeed in the MLM industry you must find creative ways to differentiate yourself from everyone else.

You must create your own Unique Selling Proposition and focus your MLM Online marketing efforts on that. You should build an information based MLM website to become a leader in the MLM industry.
