MLM Network: Another Name for Line of Sponsorship
What is a MLM network? In my opinion, a MLM network is another word for line of sponsorship. Within every MLM Company, there are thousands or hundreds of thousands of independent distributors. All of those distributors were sponsored by someone else. The only exception to this rule is the company’s original distributors. Most
MLM Companies
start with four or five original distributors. As they sponsored people, the business grew. Their downline distributors repeated this process until the company built a large sales-force of independent distributors. If you are currently involved in multi-level marketing, you belong to a MLM network. You have a personal sponsor and many upline distributors. Your upline has a personal sponsor and upline distributors. If you look “up the line of sponsorship” far enough, you can trace it back to one of the original distributors. Another way to think of it is as a family tree. You have your parent, grandparent, great grandparents, etc. As you sponsor new distributors they join your line of sponsorship. If you build a large organization, you can have thousands or tens of thousands of people in your MLM network. Personally, I find that very exciting. Even better, you don’t have to bring all those people into the business by yourself. Instead, you just need to sponsor a few good people and help them sponsor a few good people. You keep repeating this process until you have a large organization. I hope this makes sense to you. In the following paragraphs I’ve decided to provide some insightful tips to help you build a large MLM network. • Become a Product Expert: You must become an expert with your company’s products. You must know what they can do and what they can’t do. The only way to gain this expertise is to read the product information and use the products yourself. You should be your own best customer. That doesn’t mean you need to be an expert on every product. Instead, you should know at least five to ten products. If possible, focus on your company’s core product line. • Start with Your Warm Market: Although the internet has changed the way most people do network marketing, you should still get started with people you know. They are the easiest to approach. Most of your personal network will at least look at your business opportunity and/or products. Also, this method is very easy to duplicate with your downline. • Help People Get Started the Right Way: When you sponsor someone, help them get started right. That means you should sit down with them and help them place their first product order. After that, you should help them brainstorm a name list of 500 to 1,000 names. Once they finish their name list, you should do three-way presentations with them a few times, so they can learn how to present the business opportunity. If possible, help them sponsor two to three people in their first month. If you can do what I mentioned above, you will increase the retention rates in your MLM network. • Help Their Downline Get Started the Right Way: After you sponsor your first couple people, you should immediately help them sponsor a couple people. Once they sponsor two or three people, start working with them and help them sponsor new distributors. Keep repeating this process until you drive the leg ten to twenty levels deep. If you can do this, you will find two to three real sharp people who “run with the business.” They will do what you do and build a large organization. This benefits you too. • Train your downline: As a leader, you have a responsibility to train your MLM network. You must ensure that new distributors receive adequate
MLM training.
You want to teach them the “nuts and bolts” of the business so they can get started right. In addition, you should have monthly training sessions. You can do these in person, via telephone or by emails. When possible, it’s better to get everyone together. Focus on topics such as presenting the business opportunity, prospecting, sponsoring, follow-up, etc. • Motivate Your Downline: As a leader, you have a responsibility to keep your line of sponsorship motivated. This means that you need to reward them for their achievements. You should also provide constant feedback. You can do this with free products, inexpensive gifts, certificates and award plaques, praise and any other way you deem fit. In this business, it’s easy to get unmotivated. People do not like rejection. Most people quit within 90 days because they’ve lost their initial motivation and haven’t made money. If you can show them how to make money and keep them motivated, you will have better retention rates. • Keep Sponsoring People: One of the best things you can do to keep your MLM network growing is to always sponsor new people. Never become complacent. Spend your time with the people who are actually producing results. Remember, you can only lead a horse to water. You can’t make him drink. Make it a goal to sponsor two to four new distributors every month. Spend the rest of your time with your superstars. • Always Act Like a Leader: I once heard that the speed of the boss is the speed of the team. It’s important to know that your downline distributors will do what you do. Therefore, it’s your job to act like a leader. It’s your job to set the pace and lead by example at all times. Your people will always “watch you.” The best thing you can do is to lead by your actions, not just by what you say. If you “lead from the front” others will follow suit. In conclusion, a MLM network is another word for line of sponsorship. It is a group of distributors within a MLM company that have the same upline. It is very similar to a family tree. It consists of you, your upline, his upline and so forth. As a distributor, your job is to be a good leader and role model for your downline distributors. You must teach, train and motivate them so you can build a large and profitable MLM network.
