MLM Mail, MLM Postcards & MLM Direct Mail Success!

What is MLM Mail? That’s simple. It’s a process of using MLM postcards via direct mail to grow your multi-level marketing business. In my experience in this industry, there are three ways to generate MLM leads. They are (1) prospecting in everyday life, (2) the Internet, and (3) direct response. The first two are self-explanatory. The third, direct response is the process of using newspaper advertisements or direct mail to create new MLM leads.

For the purpose of this article, we will focus on direct response using MLM postcards. One of my favorite ways to generate leads is through direct mail. I call this MLM mail. The major reason I enjoy MLM mail is that you have very little competition, compared to other lead generation techniques. Let me explain why. Most people really enjoy getting the mail every day. I know I do. When people read their mail, you have their undivided attention. If you can get them to “read” you advertisement, there is a good chance they might respond to your offer.

Compared to prospecting and the Internet, MLM Mail is very effective. Let me explain why. When people are searching the Internet, they are looking for specific information. Whenever they do a search with the search engines, they are looking for something specific. They are not looking for an advertisement. That means that they probably won’t be receptive to advertisements online.

And even if they do click on your advertisement, they will have their guard up. They will expect a sales pitch. Now don’t get me wrong here. I’m not saying that Internet lead generation doesn’t work. It does work. It’s just very expensive and very competitive. If you don’t know what you are doing, you will lose your shirt. And it’s hard to separate yourself from everyone else promoting their business opportunity online.

Next, prospecting is also an effective MLM Lead Generation technique. If you are outgoing and “people oriented” you can potentially meet 5-10 new prospects every day. The major drawback of this MLM lead generation strategy is that most of the people you talk to aren’t part of your target market. That means you will be wasting your time, with most of the people that you talk to.

Remember, your target marketing is people already involved in network marketing. Or, people with previous experience in the industry. They are your best prospects because they are open-minded and receptive to new money making strategies. Once again, I’m not saying that you won’t sponsor new distributors when you go prospecting. You will. I’m just saying that there are better, more effective ways to build your downline.

You should use MLM postcards as part of your MLM Lead Generation strategy. Here’s how it works. The first thing you need to do is buy a list of leads. You can search online for MLM Lead companies. For your first campaign, you want at least 1,000 leads. You should be able to get a list of 1,000 MLM leads for a couple hundred bucks. If you can’t get a good deal with a MLM Lead Company, use can use other lead sources such as InfoUSA.

In this example, you would purchase a list of people who already own their own home-based business. You could target the list by geographical area, income, marital status, etc.

Once you have a list of MLM leads, your next objective is to create an offer. You must create an “irresistible” offer. If you are promoting your MLM business, make sure you find a creative way to pitch your business. As an alternative, you could also promote a generic MLM Training Product, a MLM eBook or e-course. You should send people to your personal or affiliate website to redeem their offer. When people visit the website, make sure they have to type in their name, email and contact number to purchase the product.

There’s another key point to remember here. If you only make $20-$100 when someone joins your MLM Company, MLM mail is not a good course of action for you. You will end up losing lots of money. However, if you earn $500 or more per new distributor sign-up, you can achieve great success with MLM mail, even with a low response rate. And if you are promoting an affiliate product instead of your business opportunity, make sure you have a high profit margin.

Next, you must place your offer on MLM postcards or on a standard piece of paper that you will put in an envelope. MLM postcards will be mailed individually. If you choose a sales letter format instead, the paper will be enclosed in an envelope. MLM postcards are cheaper, because of the postage.

Personally, I like MLM postcards because they are inexpensive and easy to use. You can team up with a local printer or do a quick Internet search to comparison shop for the best price. Obviously, the more MLM postcards or envelopes you order, the better the price you will get.

Once your offer is ready to mail, send it out. Drop it off at the post office. Within a few days, you should start to get responses. In many of my direct mail campaigns, I’ve averaged a 1-2% response. That means for every 1,000 pieces of mail I send out, 10 to 20 people will purchase my offer. Many others will visit my website, but not purchase anything. In my opinion, that’s pretty good. Your results may vary from mine though.

Here’s a key point. As people respond to your offer you must follow up with them. If your offer directed them to your website, follow up with them with a phone call. An email is okay, but phone calls are more personal. Also, make sure you have a way to track your results. One way to do this is to create a unique web address with a tracking code. That way, you can see how many people visited your website through that specific tracking code.

So, how much money will you spend with MLM mail and MLM postcards? It can get expensive pretty quick. Here’s a sample of projected costs for a mailing of 2,500 postcards to 2,500 leads:

• Stamps: $700 (2500 x .28)

• Postcards: $500 (2500 x .20)

• Postcard Set-up Fees: $200

• Leads: $500 (2,500 x .20)

• Total: $1,900

• Cost per MLM Postcard $.76 ($1,900 / 2,500)

Once again, these are the projected costs. Your total cost could vary. Now, let’s put all this in perspective. Let’s suppose you spent the $1,900 and mailed out 2,500 post cards. Let’s also assume you earn $200 per new sign up. In this example, you would need 10 sign ups to offset your costs. Here’s the breakdown.

• Revenue from each sign-up: $200

• Cost for mailing: $1,900

• Signups to get money back: 10 ($1,900 / $200) Rounded Up

This means you would need to get a response rate of .04% (10 responses / 2500 mailings). That is less than one half of one percent. Depending upon the quality of your list, that is very doable. As you can see, the more you can make on each sale, the better you position yourself for success.

If this initial expense seems expensive, you could always start with a smaller sampling. For instance, you could mail 500 MLM postcards to test your offer via MLM mail. If you received good results, you could roll out a bigger campaign afterward.

In conclusion, MLM mail is a great way to build your network marketing business. Your key to success is to get a high quality lead list and then create an irresistible offer that people can’t refuse. If you can do these two things, you will quickly separate yourself from your peers and become a top MLM earner. Good luck!
