MLM Leads are the lifeblood of any multi-level marketing business. Once you work through your warm market, you must have a method to generate new prospects that you can convert into customers and new MLM distributors. The only way to sponsor new distributors is to contact prospects and present your business opportunity. If you don't have someone to share your business opportunity with, you will fail. When it comes down to it, you really have two choices. You can purchase MLM leads or you can generate your own leads. Let's cover these two methods in greater detail. Leads from Lead Companies Purchased MLM leads are people who filled out a web-form or responded to an advertisement expressing interest in starting their own home-based business. Many lead companies advertise on the radio, on the television and on the internet. The purpose of their advertising is to generate a list of people who want to start their own business. Once the lead company gets the information, they sell the leads to MLM distributors for a profit. The major downside of buying leads is that you don't know how old the leads are. For example, how long ago did the person fill out the web-form? And how many times has he or she been contacted since then? In addition, you don't know how many times the leads have been sold. In some cases, MLM lead companies sell the same leads to 10 or more people. If you decide to purchase leads, you must follow up with them immediately. And don't expect a huge success rate. For every 100 or more leads you call, you might sponsor one new MLM distributor. That sounds horrible, but it's not. It just means you need to buy a big lead list and call everyone.
Downside of Buying Leads The only other real downside is that purchased leads can be expensive. You can expect to pay $2 to $10 per lead, depending on the type of lead and the lead source. Most new distributors can't afford to spend $200, $500 or $1,000 or more each month on leads. Therefore, they run out of leads and have no one to share their business opportunity with. If you have sufficient capital available for your marketing efforts, you might consider purchasing leads. It's a great way for a new distributor to get started in the MLM industry. Generate Your Own Leads Next, the other type of leads are leads you generate yourself. You can create your own leads by placing your own ads in the newspaper and on the internet. For example, you can run an ad in your local newspaper advertising your business opportunity. You can send potential prospects to your website or have them call you. On a side note, please know that many of the people who will call you are unemployed people looking for a job. This isn't the type of person you are looking for. Your objective is to "qualify" people to ensure they have enough money and desire to get started. In addition, you want to ensure your prospects are motivated and willing to work hard. Pay Per Click Advertising
Another type of MLM lead generation is Pay-Per-Click advertising on the search engines. This is my favorite way to generate network marketing leads. In essence, you write a short ad to promote your business opportunity. You bid on keywords that trigger your ad. When someone types in one of your keywords on a search engine, your ad will appear. When they click on your ad, you are charged (up to the amount you bid) and your prospect is sent to your website. This method is my favorite way of generating MLM leads fast. The only downside is it can be very expensive if you don't know what you are doing. Also, if you use the same website as every other distributor in your company, you will fail. You will need to get creative and create your own capture page. Prospecting for Leads Another way to generate leads is prospecting. With this method, you start conversations with people you meet in everday life. You use a simple technique called F.O.R.M. This stands for family, occupation, recreation, message. Simply put, you talk with people and look for a need. For instance, are they looking to make more money? Do they hate their job? When you find a need, you mention your business opportunity. If they express interest, you can give them a business card, flier or other promotional material. I've found this method to be very cost effective. It can be difficult if you are naturally introverted. But, if you are a people person, this is a very effective way to generate network marketing leads. And, it's free! Final Thoughts In summary, there are two types of network marketing leads. They are purchased leads and leads you generate yourself. Both types of leads will allow you to grow your MLM business. Your secret to success is to find the most cost effective leads you can. In most cases, this will be the leads you generate yourself.
