MLM Directory
What is a MLM Directory? And how does it work? In my opinion, a MLM Directory is a website that allows network marketers generate one way links back to their MLM website. The easiest way to think about it would be something similar to the “yellow pages” in the phone book. It offers an organized list of websites, by category. The History of Directories Prior to the invention of Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines, most people located websites through the different online directories. Although the search engines ultimately replaced the “role” of directories, they are still important. Now, their role has shifted to helping build back-links for websites. When you visit a directory, you can search through the potential categories and list your website in the proper category. Some directories let you do this for free, and others charge a moderate fee of $5 to as much as $300. Reasons to Use Directories The purpose of submitting your network marketing website to a MLM Directory is two-fold. Ultimately, your primary goal is to send more traffic to your website. When people visit the directory and find your link, hopefully they will decide to click on your link and visit your website. The second reason you should get your links submitted in different directories is to generate back-links to your website. This helps improve your websites SEO and traffic. Simply put, submitting your website to different directories is a form of SEO and paid advertising. What to Look For Please know that not all directories are created equal. Some directories are considered “spammy” or “low quality” by Google. Before you submit your site to any MLM Directory, you should do a quick internet search to find out the page-rank. If possible, look for directories that have a PR3 or higher. Another good criterion to evaluate is the number of approved and number of pending links. You want to make sure the directory owner doesn’t bulk approve thousands of links at a time. If they do, avoid that directory and look for something better. Choosing good directories will help you get better results, while building “quality” links to your MLM website. I think it’s better to be listed in 5-10 good directories, than it is to be listed in 1,000 crappy directories. Remember, all websites need traffic. You can have the greatest MLM website in the world, but if no one finds it, you won't make any money. Therefore, you need to advertise and promote your website. Some of the common methods include pay-per-click advertising, article marketing, video marketing, link-building and more. These strategies should be used in conjunction with submitting links to different MLM Directories. Final Thoughts In conclusion, a MLM Directory is a website that lets network marketers build one-way back-links to their own MLM website. When choosing a directory, make sure you do a little bit of research to determine the quality of the directory. Remember, it’s better to have links in five good directories, than it is to have 1,000 links in crappy directories. On the bottom of this page, you will find independent reviews to different directories that I use and recommend. Some of these suggestions might come from our website visitors, too.
