MLM Consultant: The Two Types of MLM Consultants

MLM Consultant What is a MLM Consultant? Before I answer that question for you, I would like to provide you the dictionary’s definition of consultant. According to Wikipedia, a consultant is “a professional who provides professional or expert advice in a particular area such as management.” In today’s world there are consultants in every industry to include the auto industry, commercial fishing, government work, steel mills, and even in network marketing.

The Two Types of Consultants

Within the network marketing industry, there are really two types of Network Marketing Consultants. There are consultants that advise the MLM Companies. And there are consultants who advise network marketers. Typically, Network Marketing Consultants are people with extensive experience in the multi-level marketing arena, either as a distributor or Company Executive. Simply put, they have practical, real-world experience that others are looking for.

Background and Qualifications

What typical background does a MLM Consultant have? In most cases, MLM Consultants are former CEOs and Founders of multi-level marketing companies. They have extensive experience about how to start, grow, market and manage a multi-level marketing company. They know how to generate capital, handle growth, overcome challenges, and develop a profitable company. As you can tell, any aspiring MLM Company owner would like to know this information. And he would gladly pay for it.

Here’s an example of how it might work in the real world. Joe has a great product. He decides that the multi-level marketing business model is the model he wants to use for his business. During the initial planning process, Joe decides to hire a MLM consultant to educate him about what it takes to build a successful network marketing company. He may want to know:

• Where to find start-up capital?

• How much start-up capital is required?

• How to structure the business?

• How to conduct the pre-launch?

• Where to find his initial group of distributors?

• And much more!

By hiring someone who has already gone through this process before, Joe can save himself a lot of money and heartache. For $5,000 to $100,000 (maybe a little more) he can hire someone with real world experience, who can give him objective advice about what is the best course of action. Does this make sense to you?

Personally, I’ve started several different types of businesses. It would have been great to have a “coach” to guide me along the way. Had I done so, I might have achieved success earlier, without have the challenges and heartaches. Although hind sight is twenty-twenty, I will definitely hire a consultant when I start my next business.

Training, Coaching and Mentoring

On the other hand, there is also another type of Network Marketing Consultant. The other type of MLM Consultant is someone who has built a large and profitable network marketing business who decides to provide training, coaching and mentoring services to other network marketers. Several of the more popular Network Marketing Consultants include Mike Dillard, Mark Yarnell, and Jonathan Budd. Most people would think of these guys as coaches, but they are really consultants.

Consulting is a very lucrative business. People will gladly hand over their hard earned dollars to learn how to do something. If you are successful in network marketing, you should consider becoming a consultant for the following reasons.

• Additional Revenue Stream

• Prestige

• The ability to help others succeed

In my opinion, these are three best things about working as a consultant.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, a Network Marketing Consultant is a network marketing professional who provides network marketing advice to others. In most cases, he works with new network marketing companies to help them get started. The second type of Network Marketing Consultant is someone who provides training and coaching to other network marketing professionals. Both types of consultants provide valuable knowledge that benefits our industry.
