Sadly, many MLM distributors jump from company to company, thinking that if they can get in early, they will succeed. I’ve found that nothing is further from the truth. That’s because the company itself is only part of the success equation. The other part of the equation is the person joining the company. Never join a company thinking the company is the answer. It’s not. Instead, you are the answer.

That being said, you still want to team up with a proven, reputable company. This improves your chances of success. However, you also need a mentor, a system and a marketing plan to achieve success in multi-level marketing. Without these things in place, you will ultimately fail.

Most successful MLM distributors stay with the same MLM company for a long period of time. Normally, most top earners join a reputable, proven company and stick with that same company for 10, 20 or 30 or more years.

Some successful distributors switch companies every couple years. They simply bring most of their existing down-line with them into the new company. They take advantage of the new bonuses offered by the new company, in order to improve their income significantly. Once they’ve maxed out their earnings potential, they switch to another company and repeat the process.

Personally, I think people should find a reputable, proven company they like and respect, and stick with that MLM Company for the long haul.

Choosing which company to join can be a daunting task. There are many good network marketing companies with great products or services. Before, you join any network marketing company; you should find a product or service you are passionate about.

Would you purchase the products if you weren’t involved with that company? If you can answer yes to that question, you’ve probably found a great company and product. If you answer no, look for another company to join.

Remember, no one will join your down-line if your product or service isn’t something of value. That doesn’t mean it has to be the cheapest thing available. Instead, it needs to be a quality product or service at a reasonable price. If it is, people will understand the value and want to partner up with you.

Next, you want a network marketing company with a proven track record and great reputation. Most MLM companies fail within the first five years. Therefore, you want a company that’s been around five or more years. Ten years is even better. Also, you want a company with strong financial backing.

You should consider a company that is publicly traded on the stock market. Or, you can join a privately owned company that is debt free and continues to grow each year.

The last thing you want to do is join a company that won’t be around in the next couple years. When you join a new MLM Company, you take that risk. You don’t want to work hard and build a large down-line and then have the company go bankrupt after you’ve become a top earner.

Also, you don’t want to join a company that has a bad reputation. You don’t want prospects to hear the name of your company and run the other direction.

Many of these network marketing companies have been around 15 or more years. They’ve proven themselves as an industry leader and offer great opportunities for success.

On the other hand, you can join a new MLM Company and still achieve success. It can and does happen. If you find a new company with a product or service you like, understand and makes sense to you, you could team up with that company. Just keep in mind that the odds of that company being around in ten years are quite small.

Once again, there are many different companies in existence. It’s hard to sift and sort through all the companies to find the right fit for you. To find a good fit, you should follow a certain criteria. Here are the steps I follow to find a good MLM Company to join.

# 1 Determine the type of Product You Want to Sell: Within our industry, many companies offer a wide variety of products to include nutritional, technology, health and beauty, diet, internet services, utilities and much more. You should choose a product or service you like, understand and want to promote.

# 2 Pick the Right Compensation Plan: There are many different compensation plans. They include binary, uni-level, breakaway, forced matrix and more. You should do your research and determine which type of compensation plan is best for you. Check out my page on the navigation bar about MLM Compensation Plans.

# 3 Make a List of Companies That Fit That Description: Once you know which compensation plan and which type of product you want, you should make a list of all the MLM Companies that fit that description. You should probably find five to ten different companies. Once you have a complete list, whittle it down to your top three choices. You should also research the finances, reputation, leadership and track record of each company.

# 4 Become a Customer of Each MLM Company and Sample the Products: Once you have three choices, you should order products from each company. Try them out and figure out which products offer the best value. In other words, which products are the best quality at the most reasonable price? Which products would be easy for you to retail to others?

# 5 Pick the Company That’s the Right Fit: Next, you need to join the company that you like best, out of your top three choices.

# 6 Research the Top Earners in the Company: Before you join the MLM Company, you should do a little more research about the top earners. Get a list of 3 to 5 of the company’s top earners.

# 7 Interview each Top Earner: Next, you should interview the top earners. Ask them about their systems. Find out what they do to help new distributors. Ask them what they’ve done to succeed. Find out which one would help you the most and be the right fit as a sponsor.

# 8 Get Sponsored by the One You are Most Compatible With: Finally, ask your top choice to sponsor you. Next, follow the guidance they give you about get started. If you follow these steps outlined above, you will position yourself for success in the MLM industry.

I know this might sound like a lot of work. It is. But, it will be worth your time in the long run. You want to find the best opportunity available, in order to improve your chances of success. You want a company with quality products at a reasonable price.

You want a company with a good reputation, good compensation plan and proven track record. And you want a sponsor who has already achieved success with the company. The only way to do this is to do your due diligence.

In summary, there are hundreds (even thousands) of MLM Companies in existence. However, few companies stand the test of time. You want to join a company with great products and a great compensation plan.

More importantly, you want a MLM Company that will still be in business, after you’ve built a large down-line. Therefore, you should take your time and do your homework before you join any MLM Company.
