What are MLM Blogs? That’s easy. According to my online search results at the Encarta World English Dictionary, “a blog is a diary on a website. It is also defined as a frequently updated personal journal chronicling links at a website, intended for public viewing.” Therefore, a MLM Blog is a blog with a multi-level marketing theme.
Below, I’m going to answer four different questions about MLM blogs. After you read the answers to each question, you should have a better understanding of network marketing blogs. Great, let’s get started.
• What is the purpose of a MLM blog? The ultimate purpose of the blog is to generate leads and brand yourself as a leader. Attraction marketing is one of the hottest concepts in network marketing today. It is a way to “gain credibility” and “promote yourself” rather than promoting your business opportunity. Most top earners realize that promoting your opportunity to everyone you meet is a complete waste of time.
It’s much better to have people contact you about your business opportunity. One way to do that is to create your own blog. All you need to do is create great content, and the search engines will find your blog and you will start to build a following. As people find your MLM blog online, many of them will connect with you and read every blog entry you create.
Some of these followers will eventually join your downline or become retail customers too. This satisfies the second purpose of your blog, which is to generate leads. Many of your followers will submit their contact information into your opt-in form. When they do this they become a MLM lead. All you need to do is follow up with them by phone or email and help them become a distributor. When this happens, you become the hunted.
• How do you make money with MLM blogs? There are lots of great ways to make money with MLM blogs. The smartest and most successful network marketers understand the importance of multiple streams of income. As a result, they have five to ten (or more) income streams on their blog. One of those income streams is their MLM business. Their other income streams might include: Google Adsense, affiliate products, eBooks, e-courses, Amazon affiliate program, and so forth. Personally, my website had ten income streams. I make money whether people join my MLM downline or not. That’s what you need to do if you want to build a successful blog.
Before you start monetizing your MLM blog, you should focus on creating high quality content. In other words, don’t come across like a snake oil salesman. Instead, provide helpful information that will benefit your viewers. The more quality content you create the higher your MLM blog will rank in the search engines. And the higher you rank in the search engines, the more FREE traffic you will get.
• How do you get started with your own MLM Blog? There are lots of great ways to get started with a blog. My favorite way is WordPress. To join, it’s free. You can get everything set up, including a few upgrades for less than $100 per year. That’s really cheap. I recommend you get your own unique domain name, such as your own name, or a particular theme, such as “the Prospecting Guru.”
Next, you must pick a theme. You can blog about the multi-level marketing industry or you can blog about your company’s products. For example, if your company sells vitamins, you can create tons of content about different types of vitamins. You can discuss the importance of taking vitamins, etc. If your company won’t let you sell the products on your website (or say their name), you can write about generic vitamins. At the bottom of each page, you can provide a link to your company’s products. Then, people can contact you and request more information about your products.
• Are MLM blogs better than a MLM website? This is a tough question. Ultimately, I chose to create a MLM website instead of a MLM blog. The major difference between a blog and a website is that a blog gets updated daily or weekly. In a way, it’s almost like having a job. To keep your search engine rankings high, you must keep adding new information. I didn’t want to have to do that, so I decided to create a website instead.
With a website, you simply create lots of content. Once you have all the information you want, you’re done. It might take search engines a while to find you, but when they do find you, your site will eventually rank high with the search engines. In summary, the major difference between a blog and website is that a blog is ongoing. It’s like a journal. On the other hand, a website is more like a book. You write it one time and you are done.
In summary, MLM blogs are a great way to generate leads and brand yourself as a leader in the network marketing industry. The secret to success is to find a topic you are passionate about and create lots of great content, so your blog ranks high in the search engines. Once you have enough content, your next step is to monetize your content and generate leads. Finally, you must convert the leads into retail customers and distributors.
It’s best to build your business using both online and offline methods at the same time. MLM blogs should compliment your offline recruiting efforts.
