MLM Blog

Are you thinking about starting a MLM blog? If so, you might be on to something. But before you do decide to create your own MLM blog, I’d like to ask you, “why?” In other words, what is the reason you want to start your own blog? The answer to that question will determine whether or not it is a good idea for you.

If you’re starting a blog to make money online tomorrow, that’s a bad reason. If you’re starting a blog because it sounds like a good idea, that’s a bad reason. If you’re starting a blog because someone told you to, that’s a bad reason. In my opinion, the ONLY reason you should consider starting your own MLM blog is if it fits into your overall MLM business strategy.

First of all, you have to be SERIOUS and COMMITED to this industry. Don’t start a blog if you are just testing the MLM waters for the first time. And don’t start a blog if you aren’t willing to stick around this industry for another ten to twenty years.

I’ve found more blogs online that are practically dead, than there are good ones. The person started a MLM blog and gave up within a couple months. They might have kept the domain name active but their blog is practically abandoned. And some blogs are three or four years old, but haven’t been updated in three or four years. I guess that’s pretty normal, considering most people who get started in this industry quit pretty quickly.

Starting a blog is an easy task. Generating lots of free traffic is difficult. Making money with a blog is difficult. And rising past all the other generic MLM blogs is even more difficult. Achieving success in MLM is similar to achieving success in any industry; it takes time, effort and lots of hard work. And most people simply aren’t willing to do that. It can be done. But it’s not for the lazy, weak or timid!

In my opinion, here are the best reasons to start your own MLM blog.

• To build a real business

• To create multiple streams of income

• To generate more leads

• To brand yourself

• To build a list

• To leverage your time and reach a global audience

On the other hand, starting a MLM blog for the reasons I mentioned at the beginning of this article are a waste of time. Although blogging is a hot trend today, I think it’s often overrated.

I don’t know about you, but I want to build a business that pays me true residual income. And the problem with most blogs is that they aren’t truly a business. To some of you, this might be hard to grasp. Here’s what I don’t like about blogging. They don’t teach you how to research keywords. No one teaches you how to write good content. No one teaches how to pre-sell your visitors, so they want to buy from you. No one teaches you about search engine optimization. And the list goes on!

I’ve never found one “blogging software” or “blogging program” that teaches you how to build a high traffic and profitable blog. Have you? I've never found step-by-step instructions with any of the free blogging companies. I'm not knocking them. I think they are a good deal. But they don't teach you how to succeed.

Anyone can build a fancy or flashy blog nowadays. But it takes a special person to build a blog (or website) that gets lots of traffic and makes money! And that is your goal! What good is a fancy, flashy website if no one visits it?

To succeed with a blog or website, you need a mentor and/or a system to follow. You can read this good Case Study about good alternatives to starting your own blog.

Originally, I was going to create a MLM blog. But after reading the information in the case study above, I chose a website instead. And my website is already in the top 1% of all websites (without paid advertising)! And it’s only six months old (as of April 30, 2011). Hopefully, this report will educate you before you start your own blog.

In conclusion, creating your own network marketing blog can be a good business decision if it fits into your overall MLM business strategy. But I personally think there is a better option (check out the case study). Like anything good in life, creating a successful MLM blog takes time, effort, money and energy. It won’t happen overnight. It takes someone with commitment, a mentor and a proven system to follow to build a profitable blog.

On a side note, I want to hear from you. What do you think about blogs? What type of success (or lack of) have you experienced with your blog? Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently? Share your experience with the rest of our online community by filling out the webform below. Thanks.
