The Melaleuca Business and Consumer Direct Marketing
The purpose of this article is to provide an independent review of the Melaleuca business. I am a former Melaleuca Marketing Executive who still purchases many of the products. The information in this article is based upon my personal experiences and also comes from independent research. About the Company
What is Melaleuca? And how does it work? Melaleuca is a direct sales company that manufactures and sells wellness products. They are also known as the “Wellness Company.” They manufacture “green” products that are safe for the environment and safe for your home. They currently have approximately 350 products in their product line.
Melaleuca uses the multi-level marketing business model to sell and distribute their products to others. They call it Consumer Direct Marketing. With their business model, they manufacture the products and let their independent sales force build their customer base. The company is currently headquartered in Idaho and also has a large distribution facility in Tennessee. Its CEO is Frank Vandersloot. Melaleuca does business in several countries, including the United States and Canada. It is one of the top ten MLM Companies.
The company’s product line includes vitamins, skin care, cosmetics, weight-loss products, laundry detergent, soap, and other personal care and cleaning products. Some of my favorite products include Alloy body wash, Herbal Shampoo, Renew body lotion, The Gold Bar soap and many other high quality products. Many of the products feature tea tree oil as a primary ingredient. Although I am not currently affiliated with the company, I order and consume many of their products. That’s how highly I think of the company.
What's Good about the Company?
What do I like about the Melaleuca business? What I like most about the company is its products. It has awesome products that are very reasonably priced. In addition, you don’t have to inventory and sell products. Instead, you simply find prospects and share the Melaleuca business opportunity with them. If they get involved, they sign up and become a Marketing Executive. Once they do that, they get their own unique customer number and order directly from the company. It’s really that simple. Also, all the products come with a 100% money-back guarantee. In the event you don’t like a product, you can simply return it and get your money back.
Another great thing about the Melaleuca business is the compensation plan. People can earn money, even if they don’t sponsor anyone. How do they do this? They earn residuals from people placed under them by their upline. In the event a Marketing Executive decides to sponsor others, he or she will earn even more income. They earn money from finding new customers and promoting the company’s Value Pack. Obviously, the amount they make is based upon the results they produce. Don’t expect to sign up, do nothing, and earn lots of money. No MLM Company works that way.
Another great thing about the Melaleuca business is the company’s retention rates. I’ve found that the Melaleuca business has higher retention rates than most network marketing companies. I credit that to their products, distributors and company leadership. And the final think I really like about the Melaleuca business is the company’s leadership. They are ethically sound. They look out for their distributors. As a result, the company has had consistent growth, ever since it first launched in the mid 1980s.
How to Make Money with Melaleuca
How do you make money in the Melaleuca business? That’s simple. You simply share the “New Horizons” presentation with prospects. After viewing the presentation, your prospects can sign up as a business builder or customer. When they sign up, they become a Marketing Executive. They agree to purchase minimum 35 product points each month (about $60). In the event they don’t place their monthly order, they will receive a “back-up order” from Melaleuca. This keeps them eligible for their monthly commissions.
This one aspect of the Melaleuca business creates problems with some potential customers. Many potential customers don’t want to be “committed” to making a purchase every month. Personally, I like the idea. The last thing you want is to build a large customer base, but not have anyone who actually orders the product. I’d rather have 50 customers who purchase items every month than 500 who don’t. I’ve also found that it’s very easy to purchase 35 points a month. Once you try the products, you fall in love with them.
The Compensation Plan
The Melaleuca business offers a forced matrix compensation plan. At the time of this writing, it is a 5 x 7 plan, which means you have five positions on your front line, and you can get paid seven levels deep. That equates to five on your first level, 25 on your second level, 125 on your third level, 625 on your fourth level and so forth. As you progress through the achievement levels, you can earn additional positions on your front-line. Also, Melaleuca offers generous advancement bonuses for successful Marketing Executives.
You can get started in the Melaleuca business for less than $100. That includes the enrollment fee and your first product order. When you enroll, you get an enrollment kit in the mail a week or two later. The enrollment kit helps new Marketing Executives get started. In addition, you also have the option to purchase the Value Pack for a few hundred dollars. The Value Pack features a large assortment of products at a discounted price. The purpose of the Value Pack is to get new Marketing Executives using the Melaleuca™ products right away.
In my opinion, the Melaleuca business is a viable business opportunity, especially when teamed up with the Consumer Direct Marketing business model. It has everything you look for in a great multi-level marketing company. It offers exceptional products at a reasonable price. Melaleuca has a great reputation, a strong leadership team, and sound financial backing. It also has a proven track record. If you decided to team up with Melaleuca, all you need to do is find lots of retail customers and distributors. If you can do that, you will achieve success.
