Information Marketing Definition: What is Info Marketing?

by Chuck
(MD)

What is the best information marketing definition? In my opinion, I define information marketing as the process of selling information to others. The information can be packaged in a variety of different ways to include eBooks, books, training courses, webinars, seminars, DVDs, audio books, websites and blogs. Another information marketing definition would be the process of creating and selling helpful training materials on a specific topic.

Please know that the information marketing industry is growing fast; especially since the invention of the internet. More and more people search the internet every day, in search of helpful information. To put things in perspective, I bet you visit the search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) when you are looking for something. You simply type in what you are looking for and VOILA!

Best of all, you can do an internet search for any term and normally find millions of results. That being said, I've found that most people don't want to sift and sort through hundreds of websites to find the information they are looking for. And that's why you can make a good living as an information marketer. You simply need to find creative ways to create, package and sell information products people are looking for.

For example, if someone is doing research on "Best Caribbean Vacations" they would find millions of web-pages on that topic. But, if you created a simple, low cost eBook about "Best Caribbean Vacations" you could provide a viable solution to their problems. Although everyone searching for this term won't buy your eBook, some will. Depending upon how often the subject (or term) is searched for will drastically affect your potential sales. This can be applied to any industry or any common search phrase. Your key to success is to find out what the people want, and then give it to them.

In conclusion, the best information marketing definition I've found is the process of selling information to others. Although there are many different ways to do this (courses, seminars, DVDs, eBooks, etc.) your key to success is to embrace the power of the internet and sell digital products that are inexpensive to design, easy to deliver, and extremely profitable.
