Whether you are affiliated with a jewelry direct sales company, or make your own jewelry, you can earn a nice part-time or full-time income selling jewelry at in-home parties. Let’s face it. Women love jewelry. I’ve never met a woman who didn’t like jewelry. Additionally, I’ve found that women like to socialize with each other and attend in-home parties. Sure, there might be a few exceptions to this “stereotype” but most women fit this category. That means that making money via the home jewelry party is a viable business opportunity. For the purpose of this article, I’d like to explain how the process works. Let’s get started. Your Options Your first step is to decide whether you want to sell your own jewelry, or join a direct sales company that specializes in jewelry. Both options have advantages and disadvantages. If you decide to sell your own jewelry, you will have higher profits margins. But that means you have to invest time and money to buy the supplies, learn how to make jewelry, and actually make the jewelry. This process might take 6-12 months to learn how to do. On the other hand, a direct sales jewelry company will let you purchase jewelry at the wholesale price and then sell it at the retail price. They also offer training, systems, brochures, and sales materials to help you make sales. And, you can recruit other people and earn residuals from their sales. Build an Inventory Your next step is to acquire an inventory. If you are making your own jewelry, you might want to create 50-100 pieces, so you have a good inventory. This might take 1-2 months to do, depending upon your skill-set and available time. On the other hand, if you join a direct sales company, you can sign up and purchase an initial inventory kit. I think it’s a good idea to have an inventory, so you will have jewelry for your customers to touch and handle at the parties. It’s much better to have the jewelry on hand, than simply have catalogs with pictures of the jewelry in it. Booking Parties Once you have an inventory, you can start booking parties with your families and friends. This is fairly easy to do. You simply need to get out your address book and start calling people. Offer the person a cash bonus, or free gifts for hosting the party. If you call 20-30 people, you should be able to book 3-4 parties. When you schedule the party, teach the hostess how to invite people. Show her how to set up her house. Tell her what to expect. And make sure she knows what her incentive is. I encourage you put things in writing, just so everyone is on the same sheet of music. You can learn how to do this by reading a couple books about conducting in-home parties. Conducting the Party At the home jewelry party, make sure you show up on time. Wear business attire and stick to an agenda. Try to keep the party to 1-2 hours. Make it fun and memorable. Let the guests sample the jewelry, touch it and try it on. At the end of the event, take orders and book additional parties with excited guests.I’ve found that many women sell $500 to $1000 worth of jewelry at their home parties. In many cases, the jewelry consultant earns $200 to $500 profit. That’s pretty good for a couple hours of work.
