Direct Sales Success Tip - Be Your Own Best Customer

Here is a bit of advice that I have learned over the past few years. It should be obvious, but unfortunately it really is not to some of my fellow direct sales representatives; wearing and/or using your own product increases your sales.
You might be hesitant to approach people that you don’t know, or even those you do, these days because of the poor economy, but wearing and using your own product gives THEM a reason to approach YOU. For example, you are at story time with your two-year-old and the mom beside you says “I love your necklace”. Even if she doesn’t buy it off your neck right then and there, you have at least been given a reason to give her your business card (which should always be with you).
Another example: you have just met up with a friend that you haven’t seen in weeks and she tells you that your skin (hair, nails, whatever) looks great. Tell her that it is because of a product that you sell, whip out your card and set up a meeting for later. Neither contact took more than mere preparation on your part. If your excuse to ignore this simple advice is that you don’t wear or use the product that you are selling, then you need to start doing so.
