Best Online Business Idea: Build Your Own Website

What is the best online business idea? Let me start by telling you that I have personally tried EVERYTHING under the sun to make money online. I’ve made money with some ideas and lost my shirt with other ideas. I’ve tried everything from paid surveys; selling stuff in online auctions, building websites, blogging, network marketing, affiliate marketing, email marketing, and the list goes on.

At one point, I thought about throwing in the towel and giving up on my dreams to make money online. Fortunately, I have the intestinal fortitude to persevere and adapt. And I’m going to tell you what took me nearly eight years to figure out. Hopefully, you won’t have to go through the same struggle that I did.

Here is what I consider to be the best online business idea. If you really want to make money online, you need your own theme-based website. You need a website designed around a topic you are extremely passionate about. You need a topic that sets your world on fire. Once you pick a great topic, you need to spend several years (at least) building a large website that is search engine friendly.

As your website grows, and ranks high with the search engines, you will get traffic. And that is the most important step to making money online. Your website must have a BUCKET LOAD of traffic. Without traffic, you won’t make any money online. You need THOUSANDS of people to visit your website every day, preferably tens of thousands of people.

Once you have consistent traffic, you can sell advertising, eBooks, use Google AdSense®, promote affiliate products, form joint ventures, etc. Once you have the traffic, you can sell ANYTHING and have multiple streams of income. But without traffic you can’t sell anything.

By this point, you might be disappointed. Maybe you were looking for a way to get rich quick. If that’s the case, take your stuff to the Pawn Shop and go to Las Vegas. Real businesses take time, blood, sweat, money and lots of hard work. Although very few online professionals will tell you that, it’s the truth. The internet is the greatest invention in recent years. It gives the average person the opportunity to transform their life for the better.

I seized the opportunity. Will you? I now own four websites. Two are very profitable and the other two are getting there. If I had to do it all over again, I would do what I recommended in this article. The most important thing is to pick a topic you are passionate about, so you never run out of things to write about. And then you must get to work, and never stop!

I hope this advice sinks in. Even if only one person follows this advice, I will be thankful. The internet has changed my life for the better. I now make my full time living from home. And I don’t say this to boast. I know you can do the same thing, if you’re willing to do the work. Now go get it done!
