Best Life Lessons Learned from Network Marketing

I’m proud to say that I’ve been affiliated with the network marketing industry for 10 years now. I am thankful for the relationships I’ve built, the experience I’ve gained, and the life lessons I learned along the way. In this short article today, I want to share what I consider are the three best life lessons I learned from my network marketing experience. Let’s get started.
1. Personal Growth: Without a doubt, I would not be where I am today without personal growth. Prior to joining this industry, I didn’t read self help books. I didn’t listen to motivational tapes. I didn’t attend seminars to learn new things. I’ve found that most people don’t have a personal growth plan for their life. They kind of float through life, without a written plan to develop their potential.
Personally, I think this is a bit sad. Sometimes, I wonder who I would be today if I had never started my personal growth journey. I used to be negative and unhappy. Now, I am living a life with purpose and passion.
2. Association: When we are kids, we are taught to “not hang out with bad people.” But, as we get older, we frequently forget this rule. Most people hang out with people that are similar to them. They have similar jobs, incomes, homes, etc. I’m not saying this is bad. I just believe that you should be careful who you hang out with (and take advice from), because you might end up like them. Remember, no one is born a criminal. People become criminals by hanging out with criminals. And people become “broke minded” by always hanging out with broke people.
You should make it a commitment to find people who have accomplished what you want to accomplish, and spend some time learning from them. Listen to their advice. You can do this via seminars, books, one on one coaching and a variety of other places.
3. Goal Setting: Prior to this industry, I did not have one written goal. I now have a goal book with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Network marketing taught me the importance of writing down what you want to accomplish, and then developing an action plan to attain it. That is a very powerful exercise once you apply it to your life. If you ask any person on the street, you will quickly discover that most people do not know their life’s purpose, and most people don’t have any written goals. I call these people “floaters” because they simply float through life without knowing where they want to end up.
In summary, I’ve learned a lot from my network marketing experiences. But, the three most important lessons I’ve learned along the way are personal growth, association and goal setting. These three simple ideas transformed my life and helped me become the person I was born to be. I am forever grateful to the people of this industry who have mentored me and shown me the path to success.
