Avon Business Review



The purpose of this article is to provide an independent review of the Avon business. Please know that I am not affiliated with the company in any way. All information was derived from independent research. My only goal is to provide you an unbiased review, so you can determine if Avon is the right choice for you. Please know that Avon is a registered trademark, owned by the company itself.

About the Avon Business


Avon Business Review Avon is the “queen” of the direct sales industry. It is the largest direct sales company in the world. Annual sales exceed $10 billion. From what I found online, there are more than six million independent Avon Consultants doing business in more than 100 different countries. David McConnell started the company in 1886. It is a member of the Direct Selling Association and Better Business Bureau.

Avon is a manufacturing company that uses the multi-level marketing and direct sales business model to distribute its products. That means that Avon manufactures the products and has an independent sales force that promotes the products via face-to-face and word-of-mouth advertising. Avon inventories the product, collects orders, ships the product, handles customer service, tracks commissions and pays its consultants. On the other hand, the independent consultants focus on selling the products and recruiting people.

I first learned about Avon nearly 25 years ago, when I was just 8 years old. My grandmother was a very successful independent Avon Consultant. She had lots of customers and really enjoyed selling the products. Sometimes, we would get Avon products for Christmas and on our birthdays. I enjoyed the products, especially the Skin So Soft.

Avon Products


Avon manufactures cosmetics and health and beauty products such as anti-aging, skin care, lipsticks, fragrances, personal care, hair care, jewelry, clothing and more. Some of their signature products include Skin So Soft, ANEW Skin Care, Avon ClearSkin, Smooth Minerals, Jillian Dempsey Professional, Advance Techniques hair care products, and more. All products come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. More importantly, Avon features a large Research & Development Team that is always developing new products. Each season they add new products to their product line.

Selling Avon Products


The most successful Avon Consultants have lots of customers. In fact, many of the top earners have 100+ personal customers. New Avon Consultants acquire their customers by sharing the Avon products with friends and family members. Additionally, some Avon Consultants even sell the products door-to-door. Others use in-home parties, trade shows, fairs, and other local events to share the products. The easiest way to find customers is to share the catalogues with co-workers, strangers, and prospects.

Next, many Avon Consultants use the power of the internet to find new customers and consultants. Every Avon Consultant has the opportunity to have their own unique Avon website that they can send people too. They can promote their website on their business cards, in fliers, in the newspaper or online. You simply need to find a method you are comfortable with and focus on that.

The secret to success is to be your own best customer first. You must have good product knowledge and belief in your products. Once you develop belief in the products, you simply need to share your Avon products with lots of people. Obviously, not everyone will order. But, that’s okay. The more people you share the products with, the more sales you will generate and the more money you will make. Remember, the direct sales business is simply a numbers game. You simply need to work the numbers to succeed.

Make Money with Your Own Avon Business


With Avon, there are several different ways to make money. First and foremost, you need to build a customer base. I talked about how to do that earlier. When you sell products to customers at the suggested retail price, you keep the wholesale-retail difference. That is normally 50% of the selling price, unless you give your customers a discount.

You also earn money by recruiting new Avon Consultants. You can recruit new Consultants by advertising in the newspaper, advertising online, and even by upgrading many of your happy customers. When you recruit new consultants, your goal is to help them find customers and recruits. When this happens, you earn a commission off your group’s sales. As you progress through the achievement levels, you can also earn leadership bonuses, cash incentives and trips. The amount you earn is based upon your group’s sales volume.

Why Start an Avon Business?


First and foremost, Avon has great brand name recognition. It’s pretty much a household name. According to their website, 2 out of 5 American women purchase Avon products each year. More importantly, the company has a great reputation. When you say the word “Avon” most people think of great quality products at a real affordable price. That’s a good thing if you are associated with Avon.

Next, Avon has a great product line. It has hundreds of different products that you can sell. It updates the products each season, too. Also, Avon pays generous commissions up to 50% of the selling price. And you can get started with your own Avon business for just $10! If you like health and beauty products, and love to sell, Avon is probably a perfect match for you!

Even better, you can grow your business as fast, or as slow as you want. Depending upon your goals and available time, you can build your Avon business at your own pace. There are no sales quotas, no territories, etc. And your sponsor will help teach you, train you and motivate you for free! Simply put, you’re in business for yourself, but not by yourself.

In conclusion, I believe the Avon business is an awesome opportunity for anyone passionate about health and beauty products. Whether you want to make an extra $500 or $5,000 per month, you can do it with your own Avon business.

Avon has so many things going for it. The company is the industry leader. It has a great reputation and name brand recognition. The products are high quality and are at a very reasonable price. Next, Avon has a large market share, strong financial backing, and consistent growth. The company has great leadership and awesome support and training materials for its Avon Consultants.

Your key to success is to find a successful Avon Consultant and join her team. Once you do that, you need to familiarize yourself with the product line. Next, you must focus on building a large customer base of 100+ personal customers. While you are doing that, you need to recruit new Avon Consultants and teach them how to build a customer base and sponsor new distributors.

If you can do those activities, you will build a profitable Avon business. On a side note, please know that Avon is not a get rich quick type of business. Don’t expect to join the company, do nothing, and then get paid. No legitimate business works that way. Avon requires hard work on a consistent basis to make a substantial income. If you aren’t willing to sell the products or share the business opportunity, you should just be a customer.
